And now a message to a dear friend...

HD DVD,

You were taken from us far too early. We hardly had a chance to get to know you. However, those that were able to get to know you, even a little, will never forget you.

You were the better format. You were the only format that was actually complete when released, which allowed us to have all the features, such as picture-in-picture and online connectivity, up front instead of forcing us to buy a new player every year. You were the only format that offered combo disks, allowing us to watch our new movies on older players. You were region-less, which put the power back in our hands. Best of all, you were the cheapest format.

Sadly, in the end, none of that could save you from your betrayal (). Once considered a friend, they were corrupted and twisted by the Blu-side. We will never forget their betrayal; we will not rest until justice is served.

However, we must not allow sadness or anger to consume us. We just remember the good times. We must think back to the vibrant video and crisp audio, and remember what you stood for: an affordable high definition movie experience.

I will never forget The Look and Sound of Perfect. RIP HD DVD, 2006-2008, you will be missed.
